Buyer’s Pricing Guide
Taj Mahal quartzite price: what determines your factory container quote?
How natural Taj Mahal quartzite slabs and engineered Taj Mahal quartz slabs are priced when sourcing direct from the manufacturer by 20ft container.
When importers, fabricators or project developers search for Taj Mahal quartzite price, most online articles quote retail fabricated countertop rates from local stone yards. If you are buying full bundles by the container direct from the factory, your landed cost is built very differently.
At Dawson Stone and Cabinet, we cut and finish both natural Taj Mahal quartzite slabs and engineered Taj Mahal quartz slabs across our Shuitou Town (China) and Rayong (Thailand) facilities. Below is a transparent breakdown of the six variables that determine your factory quotation.
1. Material type: natural quartzite vs engineered Taj Mahal quartz
The biggest price divider is whether your project requires quarried Brazilian natural stone or manufactured engineered quartz in the Taj Mahal vein family:
| Cost Factor | Natural Taj Mahal Quartzite Slabs | Engineered Taj Mahal Quartz Slabs |
|---|---|---|
| Raw material basis | Imported Brazilian quartzite blocks; priced per specific block yield and bundle grade | Crushed quartz and resin pressed in-house; predictable batch-to-batch factory cost |
| Slab dimensions | Approx. 3300 × 2000 mm (varies by bundle; priced on actual net square metres) | Jumbo 3200 × 1600 mm or Super Jumbo 3500 × 2000 mm (fixed area per slab) |
| Cutting yield for fabricators | Natural fissures or irregular block edges require layout planning | Uniform rectangular edges maximize yield on repeatable multifamily and hotel tops |
| Relative wholesale price level | Higher — driven by quarry block scarcity and background clarity | More economical — ideal for volume hospitality, multifamily and distributor stock |
2. Bundle grading and background movement
In natural Taj Mahal quartzite, two bundles cut the same week can sit in different price tiers. Grading is determined by three visual and structural criteria:
- Background warmth and clarity: Slabs with a clean, creamy warm-white ground and evenly distributed gold or taupe veining command a premium over darker grey or heavily mottled blocks.
- Structural soundness: Tight, well-recrystallised bundles that require minimal surface resin reinforcement grade higher and fabricate faster.
- Bundle size and book-match continuity: Large, uniform slabs (around 3300 × 2000 mm) that allow clean book-matching across waterfall islands reduce waste on the fabrication table.
Because natural bundles vary, we never quote blind. You can browse slab codes in our Taj Mahal Slab Catalogue and review actual full-slab photos and video of the exact bundle before confirming an order.
3. Slab thickness: 2cm (20mm) vs 3cm (30mm)
Thickness affects both the ex-factory price per square metre and the number of square metres you can load into a single 20ft container:
- 2cm (20mm) slabs weigh roughly 54 kg/m² in natural quartzite (48 kg/m² in engineered quartz). They cost less per square metre ex-works and allow more square metres per container within port weight limits, lowering your ocean freight cost per square foot.
- 3cm (30mm) slabs weigh roughly 81 kg/m² in natural quartzite (72 kg/m² in engineered quartz). They carry a higher slab price per square metre and fewer slabs per container, but eliminate lamination labor on kitchen islands and countertops. See our 2cm vs 3cm slab thickness guide for full loading math.
4. Surface finish: polished, honed or leathered
Polished is the standard baseline finish. Specifying a honed (matte) or leathered (brushed textured) finish adds additional abrasive line passes in the factory. When requesting a quote, let us know whether you want a single finish or a mixed container of polished and leathered bundles.
5. Container mix and minimum order quantity (MOQ)
Our minimum order is one 20ft container, and you do not have to fill it with a single SKU. Most of our importers and fabricators optimize their landed cost by mixing:
- 1–2 bundles of natural Taj Mahal quartzite (3cm) for high-margin custom residential islands, combined with
- 4–5 bundles of engineered Taj Mahal quartz (2cm or 3cm, jumbo or super jumbo) for volume kitchens, vanities and commercial work.
6. Trade terms: FOB, CIF or delivered to your warehouse
We quote in three formats depending on how your import clearance is set up: FOB (port of loading in China or Thailand), CIF (to your destination port), or delivered direct to your warehouse. See our guide to importing quartzite slabs for a breakdown of packing, A-frame bracing and shipping documentation.
